This is called the 4-5-1 V
If this is the case, then it is a very versatile formation
This formation should do well vs 3-4-3. 4-4-2 is also a very good formation vs 3-4-3.
4-3N-2-1 is the known counter for 3-4-3
---------ST---------

-----MC-MC-MC-----

but the 4-5-1V should do as well.
The key is to have as many or one more midfielder than your opponent. You should get more possession and more scoring chances in most situations like this. I know you can have tons of possession and still lose, I just have to look at Liverpool's season this year to see that in real life. But in this game, I find it is the small things that make the difference. Tactics can make or break a formation. Read the FAQ on the sticky at the top of the forum and check out the tactics and what should work best for you.
