I was just about to say that you should sticky this lol
I'm still yet to come up of a counter for the butterfly. As it doesn't have any DMC, it can be exploited through an AMC while protecting your own flanks with a DML and DMR. 2 MCs to mark the opponents MC and giving you 2 strikers against 3 DCs.
I have a feeling it's 3N-2-2-1-2, it does need some testing though. May just trial it with a friendly with a user on here tomorrow
If anyone knows a counter for the butterfly then please show it :)
I thought you would have found one quite easily. :)
Could the 'WM' counter the butterfly?
Does WM have AMC?
I'm fairly confident of the 3N-2-2-1-2 beating it, I've seen it in my 2nd team's league and it's just wrecked everyone
3N-1-4-2 can be beaten by 4-5-1 v ..Asked it over a month ago and it has worked for me each time. Adel's thread
Also 4-4-1-1 can be beaten by 4-5-1 v.. Adel's thread
From what I see, the WM (if that AMC is an AMR), could beat the 4-3-2-1 Christmas tree, this one has not been tested but I reckon it should...
4-3N-2(AML/AMR)-1
its meant 3 mc right ?
4-1-2-1-2 can be countred by 4-5-1 V style

can i beat that formation using 3-4-1-2..?? or should i change with another formation....
heres another one:
3W-1-3W-2N-1 (DL,DC,DR,DMC,ML,MC,MR,AMC,AMC,ST).
Dont know what to do though... Kinda strong in every way and pretty flexible through arrows (against better opponents DMC,ML and MR backwards, against weaker ones MR, 2x AMC and ST forwards, against an equal player only DMC back and AMC forwards, against centered formation use wingers etc.)
You can not put formations in tables, football is dynamic. If it could, it would be boring. I'm playing for seven seasons now and never changed my formation. I promoted seven times. A real team will also play according to his own strengths and weaknesses. I'm curious what you think about it.
I think at the end of the day.... on Top11 it's a game engine making the decisions...
As such... there is an algorithm being followed.... some haphazard variable... some input values...
whatever... and voila... out pops a series of results that determine the game....
It's not exactly rock-paper-scissors like many war strat games... but there would have be some
biases and comparable strength/weakness built into the code....
That's what I think about it :D
great thread
Hi all.
I can`t seem to find the right counter to: 4-2N-2N-2

Any suggestions?.
Hello...i have a cup match 2morrow morning against 32 differences in quality team. (mine is 26.5 and his team quality is 58.8)
Whats the best way to counter or give him a hard time?i will be watching the match but im pretty sure he wont do it cause he really believe he will win the match ( he didnt watch the 2 games of the previous cup games)...
He is using 4 defender - 2 MC - 2Wing (aml amr) - 2striker (4-2-2-2)
Thank you very much.
Can anyone explain me what is the design of 3-2-2-2-1 Butterfly tactic?
I thought the butterfly was effective against 4-2-2-2 hexagon... It seems the logical choice to me because the DML and DMR block their AML and AMR, the 2 MCs mark their MCs and that leaves you with 3 DCs against 2 strikers. And it's effective on the counter as your AML/AMR will hurt their DL/DR.
I'm not too sure about 3N-1-4-2 against it as it seems quite dodgy at the back against their AML/AMR. But I will test this tomorrow in the CL. I play against a 4-2-2-2, first half will be butterfly and if that doesn't work I will switch to 3N-1-4-2. I will inform you of my findings.
bro if i dont have DML and DMR...is it better if i move my 2 dmc to the side or could i use my mc with strong defensive skill to swap with them??? is there any effect...and yes i will be using the butterfly..
or this one??
4-5-1V Motivated
-------------ST-----------
AML----------------AMR
-----MC--------MC-------
--------DMC(UP)--------
DL(UP)---DC---DC-----DR(UP)
that butterfly sucks a lot ... i tested more then one time and failed always !
the butterfly gives you a lot of possession to him, i changed it in just 5 mins of the game...
4-5-1v i believe can win you a game IF ur team quality against his quality is not that much differences...winning possession, its like you attack them 7 times and they attack you 3 times..thats the proportion..
3-1-4-1-1 or 3-1-5-1 is the best. when i used that formation, they couldnt score, winning possession a bit more than 4-5-1v...remember to put down arrows to your dmc and your 3 dc's...
I don't have MR :( I may have to play Petersen as MR, he won't like that lol
So I assume with 3-1-4-1-1, red arrows on ML/MR? Then orders, normal/attacking mentality, down both flanks, mixed passing, pressing own half with zonal marking, counter attack, no offside trap?
well he was 58 quality against mine 26 so i went for defensive, down both flanks (my best player was there,so put according ur best player), Long (but if u want to use mixed does not matter i believe), own half, zonal, counter attack, no offside.
PS : to know if your formations works, see the possession bar...if its always lower 50 then its not suitable against them (i bet you know this though)lol
4-3W-1-2
anybody know how to counter this formations?
hey how do you counter 3-4-1-2?

i think 4-5-1 V have some chance as he didn't have any player to cover the flank.
I only have it around 32 skill and he has around 40.
I might have to play some defensive-counter mode.
What do you think?
@Playsmartpeople
I won 5-2 against the 4-2-2-2.. However the breakdown from the individual formations...
With the 4-5-1 V motivated, I won 4-0, changed to 3-1-4-1-1 in the 2nd half and lose 2-1 with that formation. So I think it's better for 4-5-1 V...
3-1-4-1-1 was dodgy, they had so many chances and possession bar was leaning towards opponent's favour.
July, I see you haven't got a counter for 4-3N-3 on the index page.
I use 4-1-4-1 to beat it with plenty of success. I motivate DR/DL, ML/MR & DCM. The 4-3-3 thread made me think about it & look up my notes.
:)
