Monday, 20th July, Palace teams report...
Order of play reversed today, Terriers played at lunchtime as has been customary recently, and Casuals had an early evening match.
Terriers started their triplet of games against 'I-6' teams with an away game at Beni FC. With the game at deadlock until after the hour mark, it would take something special to get a goal on the board. Terriers striker Jones eventually broke the home defence open and he passed to Moran, who made no mistake for his 21st goal of the season. Unfortunately for the visitors, the home team had a similar situation within sight of the last ten minutes and equalised for a 1-1 final score.
Casuals held top spot and knew that other results meant that they wouldn't lose that place unless they really slipped up, and their opponents ForzaGS were trying to keep a promotion slot so a cracking game was in order. As with the junior team, the match was deadlocked until well after half time and it took the striker swap to again kick the goal scoring machine in gear. Sub Neagu split the defence and fed a ball to midfielder Topalan and he scored from close range. The defence had held its nerve all game but it took a double corner in the 88th minute to break the home side's heart as ForzaGS equalised to make the final score 1-1.
