Palace Teams report, Friday...
Palace Terriers had a veritable goal-fest in their matches today. Assured of progression from the Group stage of the Champions League and the lead position in the Group, Terriers played a reduced-quality team, but still ran out 12-0 winners over the bottom-place team. Right-winger Julien van der Plas ran out with MoM, the match ball and a new Palace teams record by scoring a double-hat-trick, just pipping left-winger Nathan Masegela who scored 5. Left-back Ruben Gorrono netted a free-kick for the ninth goal. Palace Terriers become the first Palace team to have a 100% record in a Champions League Group stage.
In their League match, Terriers had a comfortable 4-0 win. New signing Zdenek Krajca and striker Ben Atkins each scored 2 goals but van der Plas stole MoM again for a hat-trick of assists.
In their Champions League match, Palace Casuals were bolstered by the knowledge that the other match had been played and the result meant that they would progress whatever the result of their own match. Playing away, they put up a good fight but eventually went down 0-2 and finished second in the Group.
In the evening, Casuals had a difficult away League game and came out on the wrong end of a 1-2 scoreline, striker Liam Cashman converting a penalty. One thing the Management has noticed recently is a surfeit of commentary, one example being:
Desert Rats FC had to wait until late evening for their only match today, and had a goal-fest of their own away at the bottom team in the League. A hat-trick each for right-winger Francisco Pelissier and new-signing left-winger (the Rats have finally managed to sign a player with ML role!) Chris Passmore, and one from midfielder Jose Carlos Matias for a final score of 7-0 keeps the Rats up with the leading teams in the table.
