Palace Teams report, Thursday...
After the wild swings of the previous two days, a mixed bag of results today...
Palace Casuals first up in Round 2 of the Champions League Group stage, and an exceptional performance in beating a 2.5Q stronger team 2-0 at home, Mario Dinamarca and Artem Garaev scoring the goals.
Desert Rats FC followed soon after, and they went away and inflicted a 7-0 drubbing of their opponents. Recent Youth product striker Albert O'Toole finally came good and scored two first-half goals to give the Rats half-time advantage. After Josh Stannard and Jose Carlos Mathias had increased the lead in the second-half, O'Toole completed his hat-trick, before Mathias scored a second and Alex Woolley completed the scoring. Three-and-a-bit hours later, they were in action again, at home in the Champions League, and they are finding it difficult to adjust to the new (to them) competition. A 1-2 defeat left them rooted to the foot of the table, but they weren't helped by injuries to right midfielder Plamen Atanasov and left-back Petr Wojtczak in the first-half. The visitors scored one in each half before O'Toole pulled one back with 12 minutes remaining; his efforts in the last ten minutes, along with fellow striker Lorcan Ivory, making his 50th appearance for the Rats, failed to find an equaliser.
Palace Terriers had a tea-time match in the League, and the went up to 2nd place in the table after a 2-1 home win, Julien van der Plas scoring both goals. Miguel Perez was injured during the match.
Palace Casuals finished off the days' programme with an away League match and lost 0-2.
