Palace teams reports, Tuesday...
Palace Terriers had top billing today, firstly with a morning home League match, and it took a GK Jayantha Ahamed free-kick in the 76th minute to separate two well-matched teams. Midfielder Eko Sinegal made his 50th appearance (6 goals, 4 assists) for the Terriers in this game.
Desert Rats FC were up next, mid-afternoon, at home in the League, left-winger Vinnie Taylor scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 win.
A busy hour in the evening started with Palace Terriers in their 2nd Leg Cup match, and it went to extra-time and penalties. Having obtained an away goal in the 1st Leg 1-1 draw, the advantage was with the home side, and all was well until the opposition scored in the 71st minute. Ten minutes later, Julien van der Plas thumped in an equaliser, and despite the visitors having a player sent off in the 10th minute of extra time, neither side could break the deadlock. Penalties time, and Ben Atkins gave Terriers a cracking start with a crisply taken spot kick, compounded by a miss by his opposite number. A miss by Aaron Record, and later, Stanislav Dolgoborodov had his kick well saved by the 'keeper and the result turned. Ingo Schmitt and van der Plas scored their kicks but the visitors scored four in a row, and defeated the Terriers 3-4.
Desert Rats FC had a Cup 2nd Leg of their own, and produced a tight away display to record a 0-0 draw, but as they had lost the 1st leg 0-2 they bowed out of the Cup.
Palace Casuals continue to confound the experts with their League displays. Away at the League leaders, their 'tanking' side pulled a 1-1 draw out of the hat, Liam Cashman producing a bit of individual magic with the opening goal in 72nd minute. Eight minutes later, the home side equalised, and their last 10 minute pressure failed to add to the score. Midfielder Emrah Topalan made his 100th appearance (10 goals, 4 assists) a in Casuals colours in this game.
