Road to Success - How to Win the Cup

As this season is ending, I won the league and the Cup but both my teams failed to win the CH.L. - defeated in semi finals.
So, I had the time to sell my players and keep a mix of 14 low and high q players
* When I say high, for me it's 6*, near to 7*. Those players below are 7* but just in the beginning.
That's how I play without spending a fortune for packs.
Taking a 5* players team with fast trainers, ending the season with those players earning a star and the next season, with those 5* players again, doing the same.
What really helps is to win some points difference in the league to secure it early, so to have the time to "clear" the team and sell the players you want.
The last games of the season day25/ day26 I use whatever I have in the team.
Today (the last day), both my teams won with those low q players in the first squad - funny

I don't buy tokens!! I only collect some, if there's an offer like: install and open xyz for 1-6 tokens, but this doesn't happend at the whole season.
I only "farm" (green) packs - since the new update, there are only 15-30/day.

I'm at season 4, manager 4
League, I'm unbeaten - but there was no team with a manager...
CL (Final): tomorrow vs my wife.

All the following teams were (slighty) stronger than me.
Second round: L6 manager (undefeated at league - 23 wins of 24) 2:0/6:0 (maybe he missed to rest his team? oO )
Third round: L6 last season double winner (cup and league) 2:0/2:0
1/8 Final: L6 last season League winner, CL and Cup Vize: 0:1 (lose)/2:0
1/4 Final: L5 last season League winner 1:0/2:1
1/2 Final: L7last season Double winner (CL/Cup), League Runner up 3:0/1:0
Final: L4 last season Double winner (L/CL), Cup 3.place, tokenbuyer. His team was ~150% (mine 121%): 1:1, 4:2 on penalties

Last season I also won the cup - with nearly the same team (bought only a new GK and one DC).

I'll keep my team again. Do drills, which depend on my opponent (strengh/time), mostly they are low: 5-7% condition.
I change formation/tactic, if it's needed.

I don't manipulate things, to get a better draw. I like to think about next opponent, how to beat him, how to set tactics...
Maybe I lose vs my wife tomorrow, and also lose the triple... but that's life. If her team do better or I'll get bad luck... it doesn't matter. My Squad had a fantastic season and won a really hard competition.

I'm looking foward to the next season.

I do manipulation as the target for me is to win the only achievement I miss so far, the LV3 treble.
Also my interest is more to the managerial/ tactical part of the game and not so coaching/performing part.
Random factor in a big degree some times, making the game-play to unstable for my taste.

I didn't make it this season (to won my 8th treble) as I had a 8* opponent in my league and CH.L.
Gave some good fights but wasn't enough.

personally I don't increase much the quality of my team (with power-training I mean).
I usually go with a 5* team, later 6* and in the end of the season maybe few players (fast trainers) I have, they are in the beginning of the 7*.
I also have 5* players in my basic squad.
So in League and CH.L. the challenge is still on.
I just use this tactic to avoid higher level teams for my Cup.

Let me give you an example from my reserve team RINOKEROS this season

In CH.L., I had two super teams so realized that I had no hope for the treble. As it's not the first time I met them, I decided to stay in the season so to avoid them in next competitions.
