You can train a player individualy and you should do exactly so. This error thing is not an error, you just don't receive bonuses (to attack, defence, posession and condition), but your guy is gaining skills as supposed anyway.
It is better to separate bonus trainings (when you need a group of players) and personal power-training of a FT.
