Maybe the game engine was just in a bad mood.
The away goal could yet be the clincher, bump your win bonus to Max for the return leg.

No, I used the formation wich you recommanded. I will give the max win bonus for the return leg. May I will use an other formation, V could work.

Its not the best as you can only attack down the flanks, which is where most of his cover is and especially on your right it would leave you exposed to a counter through his AML.
Playing the V would also put your rear flanks under pressure if he gains control but you would dominate MF and have a more balanced attack which would stop his DR/DL getting forward.
I think this is the way to go.

Looking at his quality you far out weigh him in all areas.

I'd attack him forcing his AML and MF players as far back into his own half, your DC's look like they should be able to out run his attack so play the O/S
