The key to identifying a FT is to first compare the player's market value to his overall quality when you buy him, like in the first and second links. That'll present you with the possible/potential FTs. Then, you have to test the players with drills/sessions either by adding a SA/NP or giving the player a training session of 15-18 % condition loss like described in the first link or target only one or two white skills like it's described in the last link. If you want to be sure, try all three versions. That'll confirm whether the player is a FT or not.
Once you get past Level 35 it's almost impossible to tell if a player is a fast trainer or not just from the information you get in auctions. What you can do is pay close attention to who else is bidding for a player you are thinking about. If mid-level players (around levels 10-25) appear to be really keen on a player there's a better chance that he's a fast trainer. Obviously doesn't always work, but can give you a decent indication. Realistically, you have to buy the player then test them out. In the higher levels you just have to accept that you will buy certain players that you thought were fast trainers but turn out not to be, but that doesn't mean that they won't perform well.
